Sometimes, parents just don't really think too hard about the names they give their children.
Here's the place to nominate the most unfortunate names you have seen.
I have to say....I know 2 Michael Hunts (see Porky's for anyone who doesn't know what I mean) however......one of them has a wife called Patricia (Pat). They insist on being called "Mike and Pat" cos the alternative....Pat N Mike.......is just too wrong....
Pattin my what???

Oh dear, I could name a lot for this one!
But before I start.. some names seem okay for some people, but not for others. I guess I gotta remember that we're all from different cultures and backgrounds, and different names mean different things to different people. These are the terrible ones based on my personal opinions:
Apple
Sunday
Dick
Adolf Hitler
Hmm. I suddenly can't think of anymore, lol. O_o
The American name 'Randy' always makes me chuckle.
'Hi, I'm Randy'
'And what do you want me to do about it??' lol
I went to school with a Daly Bus. No joke.

Lol :|
That reminds me.. when I was in school we had a teacher called "Ms Hordyk" (pronounced as whore-dyke..). Ah, kids were so immature about it ('cause she happened to be gay too). I remember getting to college, and a few of my friends from my old school went there too. We were having a conversation about her once, with a few other people listening in (who didn't go to our school, so they didn't know her). When we said her name, they were like, "you guys are so rude! Calling your teacher names like that".. We were like.. but that's what she was called! lol *sigh*

hehe I know an American called Randy
*waves to you know who you are* ;)
I think Fifi Trixabelle is up there with the all time cringes though.
Gawd Bob, couldn't you think of something that wouldn't embarrass the hell out of her every time someone said her name?

I didn't know this person, and I know I will not be able to spell the name correctly, but my old roommate had a relative with the name Omelia Kreckelburgersteinawychikowski! Need I say more?
And there is an old joke around the US, don't know if it was true or not. A young mother was looking for an original name, and a devious nurse suggested a name that would be pronounced shi-THEE-ad. Sounds pretty, but when you spell it... um.... sh*thead?

The Wright Stuff did a piece sort of on this topic last week.

Downside - it was one of the weeks with the incredibly annoying Lowri Turner.
Haha, love this thread... When I first started uni I had (and still have) access to every student's name  I remember procrastinating so badly that I went through the list of names to find some to laugh at....
A. Arsene

R. Bumbliauskas (a dinosaur I reckon)
C. Bumpus
P. Bumstead
Oh-so-many-people-called Cockburn

Honestly, they're ALL real! :|
Lol this thread is fun.
My sister has a friend who works as a labor and delivery nurse and she told my sister that the worste name she has ever had someone name their child was a foreign lady who insisted on naming her daughter Meconium! She asked the lady if she knew what that was and the lady told her yes but she thought it sounded beautiful! Ok, so you named your daughter "dark green tar like infant poo?" cause it sounds beautiful?!....
I knew someone who named their little boy Tree. (Maybe he should get together with Apple...lol)
I knew a family with the last name of Glass and they named their daughter Crystal.
I had a teacher with the last name of Doverbich (pronounced dover ♥♥♥♥♥). You can just imagine what fun the kids had with that name!!!
There was a girl with the surname Shufflebottom in my year, but everyone thought it was pretty cool, actually...

Great thread
We had a Mr D'eath at school (and had about as much personality lol) and also a Mrs Button (whose unfortunate first name was Pearl XD.. that did crack me up).
A girl who I was friends with at juniors went by the surname Packman (I also work with an unrelated colleague who has that surname too).
A teacher at my daughter's old school was Mrs Dick  All I can say is.. thank goodness she taught infants as I am sure she would have been in for a hard time at a High School (please don't twist that sentence around, you dirty beggars)
I am sure more will come to me - so will no doubt repost later lol
Awww, I was just twisting it around nicely and then you had to lay down the law... :P
That video Hints posted was interesting. I don't really agree with Turner that it's old-fashioned to change your surname when you get married. I couldn't wait to change mine! I felt I'd done my time with the less-than-exciting 'Jones'!
My form tutor in school was called called Mr Bates... some people called him master.. Not me though!!
Also found an E. Pimp in uni

I worked with a Richard Head and a Richard Whittington.
One was obviously open to more ridicule than the other.

oh the possibilities--
I had a friend whose degree was in Forestry, as was her husbands. They named their children Birch and Spruce (boys) and Cedar (girl).
My music teacher in Elementary School had the surname Grandstaff
An equestrian judge that I showed under many times as a teenager had the surname Clapsaddle.
One of my dear friends in the equestrian world name is Robert Roberts. You think his parents could have selected a different first name.
My uncle's initials are DAM.
But who am I to talk- my son Taitorsalad's intitials are TNT!!!

Baby nerdy's initials.. ARS :|
And if we had a girl.. it would have been ASS :S
The actual names are fine. it's just the initials that aren't. Apparently I have a liking for um.. bottoms? :|
/me blames Mr Nerdy for having a surname beginning with 'S'
'cause that's just the easiest thing to do ;)

so i have an aunt whos name is Ima Jones... well that wasnt that bad, until she got married to Bill Fox... her name now is Ima Fox. lol.
Reminds me of my old Year 7 head of year. Her name was Mrs Hore and she once bought her daughter in cookery class . . ahhhhh Ima, such a beautiful name . .
I went to school with a T.Ree, which I always thought was a pretty cool name to have. I've also come across a P.Rivett (who got dubbed Privet by the kid's team I worked for - brought to an abrupt end after one colleague called the child that in front of his parents one day).
Hmm, also went to school with a Ramsbotham (pr. rams-bottom) and a Mike Haycock (which usually ended up as Mike's a cock in the playground).
Can't think of any more right now, but I'm sure more will come to me. :)
