hey friends, just got a quick chance to update you all from mexico...
things are going good here, no i dont have internet in my house so this will be short. i am currently living in merida, in a nice cinder block house. and yes i do sleep in a hammock and shower out of a bucket, but hey its nice. the heat is something else, never thought it was possible to get this hot. i am loving it down here, and yes i speak spanish now, not perfectly, but hey i only have a few months under my belt. since i go door to door its nice to see all the different kinds of people that live out here, man i wish i had more time, just wanted to stop by and say hello. if you want to know anything specific PM me and i might be able to answer sometime in the next few months. take care of isketch for me!

got a little more time...things out here are awesome. let me just describe what i am doing on a daily basis. wake up at 6 in the morning, shower, eat, workout until 730. 730 until 930 study the scriptures, 930 till 10 study spanish, at 10 leave the house. from 10 until 2 i am either teaching people about the scriptures in their house, or walking around knocking doors, almost always we have appointments, we rarely knock doors. the people at doors tend to be a little rude lol, but its kind of amusing some of the things they say like ´lock yourself in your church and only teach those that care about what you are saying´ lol. love it. wel at 2 we go and eat, every day a different member of the church makes us lunch, its good, i love the food out here. then from 3 until 930 i am out teaching again. 930 return to the house. 1030 go to sleep in my hammock for the next day. it is really cool, i have learned so much about the culture seeing it first hand. i do miss talking with you all, and baking virtual cookies lol, but i do have to say i dont miss isketch that much... oh and showering in a bucket isnt that bad, i just have to heat up my water on the stove before i go and shower. lets see, what else can i say.... the houses out here have cool colors, and there is a ton of iguanas. i really got culture shocked seeing people that live in houses made from sticks, and seeing taxis that are bicycles with a seat on the front... but its a once in a life time experience....
glad to see that you guys missed me! know that i missed all you too, and i will try to update yall once every couple of months!

awww :cry: It sounds as if you are having a fantastic time Jmac! Who would have thought it eh? Sleeping in a hammock and showering from a bucket. Makes you kind of appreciate what we have - boy, do we take a lot for granted :S

i took a bus to the center of merida and am paying for the internet right now, monday is my day off to write do laundry buy stuff etc.

NO!!!! vik caught me on!!!! lol... no just so yall know, ill be on probably (more than likely, but no guarantees) every monday for the next 3 weeks, after that there are transfers and i could be in a different area so who knows, but like vik said, i just cant stay away! lol.

so i get to see a hurricane tomorrow, wonder what its going to be like.... just so you all know things are still going just fine and dandy, its crazy how fast my spanish is coming, im thinking and dreaming in spanish now, definitely going to be a handicap when i come back to isketch. i think i will use that as my excuse for being slow to get the words lol.... well just thought i would let all of you know (because i know i am like totally way popular and like you all are totally worried about whats going to happen to me and i like want to calm all of your fears so that you dont like have some like massive heart attack, beacuse that would be very bad, uh huh, very bad... lol) that i am safe here in the yucatan, just a little bit of water and wind. lol. well have a good day!

hey friends, i got a little bit of time right now as it is holiday season and i just thought i would like to give you all a little update.

well i am currently in a small city of about 40,000 people right next to the gulf of mexico, almost everyone here are fishermen or marines. its been getting pretty cold in the nights lately, like 75 degrees, i am still sleeping in my hammock and loving it. ummm what else, oh the food here is really good, love it. well thats about all i can think of right now to put... so yeah, done.

Hey if anyone wants to see a way cool looking lagoon you should check out the ´laguna de Bacalar´ its pretty sweet. has seven different colors of blue in the water when the sun hits it right.

Well just thought i would stop by for the holidays... in a couple months (end of march) i go back to the USA, and probably will have some more time to drop by and see whats happening... although i bet my drawing skills are quite rusty.
