Hey, there's a user running around with a um..pornographic image as their icon. They are asking people to look at it. Is that allowed? If not, how do I get someone to take care of it? :embarrassed:

Hmm that's a tricky one.
My understanding is that it is an individual's choice whether or not to look at profiles, including quotes and icons. There are settings you can change to reduce exposure to offensive stuff - eg to not show icons, or the language filter.
It's also my understanding that players can't vote to kick someone out of a room for offensive profile information (as it is a choice to look at it) whereas an offensive name you can - because you can't avoid looking at someone's username.
So I think, if my understanding is correct, the official line is probably "not much you can do".
Having said that - if I saw them in a room, I'd probably get the IP, a screenshot of the profile picture, and a /ct of the chat box and send it all in to feedback anyway.
I see quite a few people have looked at this without answering - I'd be really interested in hearing people's opinions on whether anything can be done. Whilst iSketch doesn't claim to be child-friendly, it does have standards that are enforced by both players and the admin team, and the player described above appears to have found a way to display unacceptable images without drawing them.

I think it's an interesting issue. iSketch, to the best of my knowledge, was designed to be an 'adult' site. However, even adults have levels of taste and decency, don't they? I suppose with no regulations on the site itself to govern what a player can and can't put in their profile (meaning anything goes, I suppose) it would be up to the player who is offended by the material to remove themselves from the room and/or not look at the profile. I'm not saying this is right, just that it's the way it is. I did once see a player blocked for having a profile saying negative things about admin though. This left me a bit confused on the whole 'profile' thing. Is it a separate thing and not included in the site's rules regarding 'improper conduct'?

It appears that it is, in which case, if you're offended by a profile, tough. Unless you're an admin, but I'm sure the occurances of admins blocking for profile content aimed at them are rare, as this would surely be unfair to the players, who are not afforded the same respect.
hehehe I do believe I know the one you are talking about :D Allegedly it's a bet, if it's the same one ;) Quite frankly a lot of the female I-Sketchers I know love it when he enters a room...not my cup of tea but hey ;)

Putting the player on ignore will block their profile and their comments from your screen.
Take the advice that Saffron said previously (taking screenshots along with IP) and if you are aware of any admin around, then let them look at the issue.
Those who wish to show naked people on their icons may have differing reasons for doing that, though a lot probably lost their way to the cyber room =p

If they're advertising their icon to the room, it seems like a deliberate attempt to shock other players - I think that's a situation where you could vote.

I've seen people banned by the admins for "porn" in the general rooms (eg english easy uk). I guess this rule would apply here? Images are difficult because you dont choose to see them - you cant ignore someones image - whenever your arrow goes over it up pops the image.
I realise thet the users of user-created 'adult' rooms might also want to use isketch's normal rooms too, which makes it difficult for them.
I know it's an 'adult' site, but so many players are minors that I do worry - and even as an adult I don't like someone to parade pictures of their manhood before me. I don't come on isketch to look at porn!! (though I think there are more penises on i-sketch than you'd find on many a porn site ;)) :embarrassed:
I wish people would show their fellow i-sketchers common courtesy. But until swear words and rude images are formally banned, there's little we can do.

On the issue of rude images, a lot of online sites require approval of profile pictures prior to uploading on the site.
Feedback (info@isketch.net) will deal with any such concerns though there has been very few updates to iSketch ever since it was introduced and it is unlikely many more changes will be made in the near future.

There's been quite a few updates (http://isketch.net/instructions/version.shtml) on iSketch since it was introduced, but not any for a while.

I saw that list but since I played 2 years a go though I haven't noticed any significant updates if not, any (though I may be wrong) hence the concerns of mine over new changes on the site.

ISketch is then most likely on it's last and final stage.
