Nothing like spur of the moment thing!! It's three weeks to go yet!!
I love a bit of spontaneity as much as the next fella... except when it means I miss out on a day of beer, bowling and bebauchery. hehe

/me will await further details of this weekend of debauchery with interest .. and a certain level of trepidation

Re: bowling, the nearest bowling alleys are about a 20 minute drive away, there used to be 1 at David Lloyd center Enfield but it has been turned into a squash/tennis courts now.

As It is cup final day on the 19th, Mr jewels will be going via Waltham Abbey to meet some of this friends to watch the match, so I may get him to drop me off, thus although he already knows Tuppence and has met fruity, would be nice for him to meet the rest of you.
Quite a few isketch players live not to far from here so a few more might pop along, also our very own msnerdinator and AJ aren't a million miles away.
Looking forward ( I think) to meeting piggie and fairynuff, and seeing the regulars again whom I have already met.
edit: aww facey, well if the wedding is called off, please join us.

You tend to find that when you get a group of isketchers together... once they start chatting no-one really thinks about what anyone else looks like anyway.. after all... it wasn't because of what we look like we all want to meet, it's because of who we are and what we've meant to each other.
Also.. picking on appearance tends to be something done by people who have no confidence in themselves... in order to make them feel better. They're usually not up to much if they feel the urge to needlessly put people down. If I see someone do that, I keep my distance, they usually have their head up their bottom, lol. I'm sure there's no-one who would do that... not without being beaten about the head with my XXL 'I beat Anorexia' t-shirt.
/me hugs Nerdy tightly and grins.. 'You're only hiding 'cause you know we'd all be jealous'

Waltham Abbey Meet Itinerary
3.30pm onwards Meet at The Baker's Arms (http://www.pub-explorer.com/essex/pub/bakersarmswalthamabbey.htm). Waltham Abbey.
7pm Bowling at Firstbowl (http://www.locallife.co.uk/harlowepping/bowlingcentres3.asp) in Harlow. There will be bowling on 2 lanes.. let us know if you can if you're planning to stop by and play! There'll be a bowling tourny of sorts with the 5 highest scorers in a final, this of course depends on your pocket and your enthusiasm, if you just want to watch and chat, that's great, but let us know so we can adjust the booking to suit. There is a bit of travel to the alley, but people have kindly offered to help give lifts etc. So hopefully we should all be okay.
9pm (approx) Back to Waltham Abbey, and to what I have been reliably informed is somewhat of a pub crawl heaven...for those who fancy a bit of a tipple... I'm sure that no iSketcher I know would ever drink like that though.
These are the only fixtures... the rest is go as you please with whom you please (in a manner of speaking lol).
oh and,
/me hugs Tiggs back.. shame you can't make it xx

And Cherry, please be gentle with me, it's my first meet, and I might need looking after!

I've heard that pubs now have "soft drinks" to purchase!! I can recommend J2O!! But that's a great idea, Cherry, no zozzled meeters at bowling but then again that lessens my chances of being first!
However, if you're gonna start at 4pm then perhaps I'll still be in with a chance!

If people are happy with just a day/night out on the drink at Waltham Abbey, can people let us know so that we can change the bowling booking? Thanks
We tried to keep it as relaxed as possible so that people can mainly do their own thing. Bear in mind though, that people who haven't been drinking during the day, or are not drinking at all, may not want to go into a pub full of drunk people later and everyone needs to be considered.
Some of you see each other lots, there are some who have never met, or rarely get the chance to meet. There are some activities we planned that work very well on the soberness-impaired :razz:so I'm looking forward to being sober amongst you lot. lol

This is a message to all the pee-heads. I am a very strict school teacher type of b1tch and I have a lovely game planned for you all. However, it does require you to be partially merry but not paralytic (or even paralysed!) so please keep this in mind because I WILL throw a tantrum if you don't all join in with my game AND enjoy it thoroughly!!
Personally, I want to be able to remember the day/evening and have a laugh about it on the forum afterwards and make all those boring old farts that didn't come envious!!

I think I shall take a notebook and jot down all the happenings throughout the day and evening, just so we don't forget anything and also so that I can get quotes word for word - well, I wouldn't have the ability for screenies, will I?!! Heaven forbid that I quote one word incorrectly!

He'll be off playing football that day so surely we can get a view of the inside too! After all, he won't have any WAGs in there! Perhaps we should invite him to the Meet or bowling!

Listen Facey, when you get to that wedding just have a quick word with the vicar and tell them that you have somewhere to be fairly soon and could they cut out the slushy bit and just do the bit which is required legally!
Alternatively, you'll have to contact somebody on your way back from the wedding to see if we're still up or just pure old light-weights! Maybe you could join the midnight feast!

Newsflash - It seems that the phenomenon known as wearing leggings with a skirt has also attempted to be back in fashion. All I have to say on that is - PLEASE - make your mind up it's one or the other ladies.
Oh and whoever the nasty bugger was who told the young lady I saw walking along the street today that she looked good in a mini-skirt with a midriff top needs a bloody good slapping. Poor girl even had her g-string showing - but it looked like a bit of old sailor's rope......
So when's the next meet in Australia and who's organising it?

LOL BM, in my experience, it is usually the person who asks the question that gets the responsibility!
Seriously though, I have been asking around the aussies I know who would be interested, and m2g and I were going to see what we could come up with. That was a couple of weeks ago, and then life got in the way a bit, so haven't been in touch with her since then.
Apparently m2g tried to organise one a while back, and there were the usual parochial issues about northern people not wanting to travel south, vice versa.
Ruthie suggested Noosa, (which sounds great to me - the bikini doesnt get much of a workout here in Tassie!) although practically we would need somewhere close airports/bus terminals. Gotta think of the budget!
Keep in touch

Actually, I've thought of a different variant of the Naked Corridor Running - thought we could add Chinese whispers into it! Everybody has to stay in their room and then one person runs to the next person's room (naked, obviously) gives them the chinese whisper, they run to the next room (naked, obviously!) and gives the next person the whisper etc etc.
Now how I will stop myself from wetting myself en route, I'll never know!

Really looking forward to this. I've had my shower and packed my bag, just need to sort the car out (boring stuff) and then I shall be on my way to collect Mr Peanut from the train station! I'm not sure if anyone will be taking their laptops, be nice to give those who can't make it, a full update as things happen!
All those going.... see you soooooon!! xxx

Had a text from Nuffeh this afternoon about 1.15 and all it said was "Nearly time!". I texted back saying it wasn't fair because I was still at work and she was just about to leave to go and fetch Mr P from the station! Had a text from her about 4.30 to say they'd just stopped at the services for something to eat. She wasn't sure on their location but she did know that they'd gone just a little further than Watford Gap!
Had a call from Buffers about 4pm and she'd arrived safely! Then at 6-ish I had a text to say that she and Fender were just going to take a stroll over to the church and they were still awaiting Nuffeh and Peanut who were due around 7ish.
Personally, my whole world fell apart this afternoon. I drove home from work and got within ½ a mile of home when I felt my car "go funny". Managed to get home but could smell something hot - uhoh - so phoned my dad and asked for some advice. Well, it's not good advice when you're told "well, you'd better cancel your trip tomorrow then". UMM, NO DAD! So obviously I didn't want to listen to the "Oh Wise One" any longer and jumped back in the car and prayed to God that it would get me to the garage. I got in the car and it smelt like somebody had done a poo in there! (Did I fart that bad before I got out of it before?!!) So very cautiously I drove to the garage. Couldn't drive anything but cautiously because there was just no power in the acceleration at all! I was struggling at 15 mph! Anyway, to cut a long story short, my car is still at the garage with a diagnosis of the exhaust having fallen apart or something to do with the cat converter! I've told them that I need it on the road by midday tomorrow or else! He's half-assured me that it will be so please can everybody pray for my little car tonight cos I'll be stuck otherwise!
Oooooh just had a text from Nuffeh. She and Mr Peanut have made it to the hotel in one piece! So, that's four for the Meet!! She said that the rooms are lovely, area is nice too. They were greeted by two Scottish lads in fancy dress so she doesn't think we'll be the only noisy ones there!!

18-05-2007, 11:32 PM
Thanks guys but you can rest assured that this little piggie will not be getting on any train to experience a three hour train journey from Bristol to Paddington and then another hour on the tube! And all at a nice tidy sum of £51!
I'd much prefer to go hire a little car for £45 and pay the extra petrol! However, let's keep our fingers crossed that an S reg Astra will be speeding its way across the M4 some time tomorrow afternoon. I've decided that I will remain calm unless there's no chance of me getting there at 6!!
But, like I've said to a few of you this evening, this could be a blessing in disguise. Just think if my car hadn't gone weird on me this afternoon, then I could've been driving it along the M4 tomorrow and got halfway and then it happened. There would've been NO CHANCE of me making the meet! At least it happened today and I've got half a chance of making it!
By the way, heard from Nuffeh at 10.20 pm. She said they were all having something to eat and jewels was there, having a good gab!! No doubt jewels will update us when she returns!

Just thought I'd pop on to let you all know that the garage phoned this morning and it's not good!! The ECU which is something to do with the engine management system has buggered up, which in turn has melted the cat converter so both the ECU and cat need replacing. I could be looking at a bill for over £400 in total
So here's my proposal: Everybody on iSketch has a quick look in their pockets and throws in the pot any loose change for the PCF ..... Piggie's Car Fund!
I'm just sorting out my things in anticipation that the car might be ready this side of midday but, like I've said, I shall remain calm until 2 pm then start to panic! Don't worry though, I have a back up plan and lovely parents! Mum has said she will insure me on her car and I can borrow that if necessary! She's insured with SAGA - how old do they think I am?!! (Do NOT answer that!) However, whatever happens, I shall still be landed with a bill for near £500 inc labour etc! And this was supposed to be a cheap weekend?!!!

Piggie I could be wrong, but I think saga will not insure anyone under 50 even for a named driver, however if your own insurance is fully comp, you can drive another car but only as third party, if you're only third party with your insurance, if you phone them they should do you a weekend cover rate for your mum's car.

Yes I made it and I'm back home again safe and sound!
Eventually the car cost £376.11 so, although it was still an unexpected expense, it wasn't as bad as predicted! And thank you so much for contributing to the PCF (I think!!). It ran up there like a dream; stopped at junction 23, M25, for a pee and then phoned Buffers to let her know where I was and that I'd soon be there. She said they were all in The Plough and would make their way over to greet me! Pfft! Some welcoming party I had! Nobody was there  so I went to check in AND got to my room before looking out the window and seeing some silly old tarts standing outside the pub looking at the road allegedly awaiting my arrival! Anyway, I did my royal wave from the window and then ran down to meet them! Fender then emerged with my "Welcome Piggie" poster, which you might get to see on a photo, even if it did take Buffers FOUR attempts to take it!!
We had a brilliant time bowling although el_pedro was lost en route and didn't manage to find us  Cherry managed to finish her first game on that wonderful score of 69 .... /flirt her-score! Then it was back to the pub! Useless pub! Tell us if you're gonna stop serving food before we start looking at the menu! Anyway, /me to the rescue. I went across and got a menu for a dodgy pizza delivery firm and we had pizzas and things delivered to Cherry's Party Room.
How we weren't thrown out of that place, I'll never know! Twice reception called the room and told us to keep the noise down! Whoopsie! "iSketch real life" was brilliant! A few suspect draws and a few skips were necessary .... insert "Tuppence seems to be asleep" photograph!
Tupp and jewels left about 1.45 - we did mention that they could be seen to look like a couple of hookers leaving the hotel but they didn't seem to mind this!!
I logged off at 2.30am and apparently the party carried on for another half hour or so.
I'm saying nothing about the drunkest person there but poor little vodka_babe must've had a shock waking up with vomit on her bed; not her own vomit, I hasten to add! You'll have to figure out who she was sharing a room with to know whose it was!!
It was brilliant to meet everybody and we had a great time (I think I speak for them all when I say that). It was a good sized group to be able to chat to everybody too and they were all so nice too (yes, they actually were!!). Thanks guys for making it worth driving all that way to meet you!

OMG never again!! Just kidding! What a fantastic time I had, and what a lovely bunch of people. Greeted on Friday by Buffers and Fender, hugs all round. Fender disappeared for his dinner (I think) which just left the 3 of us (me, Buffers and Mr P). Friday night was a nice quiet night, with just me, Buffers, Peanut and Jewels. Went to the pub for food, nice grub too, and sat and chatted for a while. Jewels toddled off in her lovely car, and we strolled back to the hotel. Peanut went to his room, and Buffers and I chatted and drank vodka in my room until about 1am. I have a feeling the chatting might of gone on longer if I wasn't falling asleep lol.
Woke Saturday to discover I better buy another bottle of vodka oooops lol. Sketchers arrived throughout the day, and off we went to bowling. As Piggie said, we were all gutted that El_Ped got lost on the way there.... but El... there will be more meets to come I'm sure!!

Kissy!! You naughty girl!! High Beach in the day is probably more respectable in the daylight hours than at night I'm presuming  Lots of people with young kids walking about, and only one dodgy bloke spotted (luckily I was stood next to my car at the time).
And jewels? Next time you recommend somewhere, could you please let me know it's bad reputation BEFORE I go! Nuffeh, I didn't disappear Friday night for my dinner - I disappeared so that I could get a good night's sleep in my own bed because I knew exactly what I was in for the next two days:razz:
What a fantastic weekend! What started out as a little informal get together because Buffs was travelling down managed to turn into a riot of a mini-meet (riot not being too far short of literal.) Thank you to everyone that came along for making it the success it was. It's telling of how well we all got along that it felt like I'd met all of you before, even those that have managed to avoid me in real life previously. It was also great to get to speak properly with those that I'd sadly only swapped a few brief words with at Henley.
Bowling was embarrassing but fun, just as at Henley - the ball always seems to go looking for my mind, and presumes it's in the gutter for some reason. I feel awful that we managed to somehow lose el_pedro along the way, I thought I was only acting as navigator for Cherry. Hopefully we'll see you again at the next meet though.
iSketch was hilarious, more so knowing we were annoying the miserable swine in the next room:razz: .. and the room below:eek: See what happens when you get a room full of iSketchers but no admin are around to keep control of us! I had to park my bottom on the floor for much of the time and if anybody else had kicked me I'd have been forced to leave the room and go sit in the lobby:razz:
The morning after the night before brought the sad but inevitable departures for those with long distances to travel and stuff to do, but Buffs, Kissy, Vodka_Babe, WildCherry and me stopped a while for a drink out in the glorious sun. And then it was back to life, back to reality.
For fear of missing anyone out, I won't list you all individually - but it was wonderful to meet every one of you and I hope it won't be too long before we can all get together again. I had another sketch pad with me that we didn't even touch ...

Well, it was good to see those of you who were there when I was... Had a very nice time in the sunshine having a drink and talking, as is the proper thing to do at these meets.
Needless to say that I am quite fed up of Essex at the moment, having seen most of it in my attempt to find you all at the bowling alley. Special thanks to everyone who did try and help me get there. I did ask at petrol stations and have come to the conclusion that most employees of those places are infact thick as frozen treacle.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really feeling the after effects of bowling! My left leg and my right arm are sore!!
You think you have problems? Buffers and myself both broke nails!
Hope you recover soon, was great to finally meet you xx

A little ditty to sum up the waltham abbey meet.
Waltham abbey was the spot, where isketchers met to thicken the plot.
We started out in the bakers arms, where all the bar staff loved our charms.
We had a few then went outside, to look for piggie and to hide.
The plan was simple on the meet, to jump out from hideing and so could greet, the oinker and her trotter feet.
We then went strolling off to bowling and one of us got lost, poor el_pedro silly moo, cut up by a range rover so dident go.
At the alley bowling away, piggie,s scores were big way hey, broken nails and falling balls, watch my feet you silly fools.
Burgers and chips at the bowling alley. what a minging meal, burnt fries and crappy burger, why did i pay my bill.
Back to the pub and more to drink all chatting haveing fun, sitting chilling gabbing away, what a lovely happy day.
Now to my room cherrys den, for isketch nibbles and more to drink again.
Pizza delivered to my room, laughing shouting complaining to.
Reception rang to say were to loud, were only talking says the crowd.
Another call from reception again same complaint oh great.
And so to end this exciting night, cherry spewing with delight, on vodkas bed of all the places, just as well i missed her face.
