Oh my... I've seen too many statues in my life. I don't think I can find this by only seeing its knuckles

Last clue - his statue isn't as small as he is famous for being in real life....
Napoleon?
Nope!
It's carved out of one complete block of marble by an Italian master, and is probably one of the most iconic pieces of art known to man. It was completed in 1504. The subject is Biblical and is best known for picking a fight waaaay out of his league...
Maybe this part will help *blush*
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j156/vikstar80/Unbenannt4.jpg
BTW, these aren't photos of the original version but rather a copy in a piazza in Florence.
It's David, by Michaelangelo.. But the background threw me off!
And jeez, they were tiny back in the day :D
Well big ones were apparently considered uncooth, and there is a theory that Michelangelo wanted to emphasise his naivity and innocence. His head and shoulders are proportionaly a bit larger than his lower body which could suggest he acted in logic rather than for pleasure. Or it could just be that it was originally intended to be shown in a church high up and far away, in which case those strange proportions would look about right.
Here he is in all his copied glory (wasn't allowed to take pictures of the real thing in the Accedemia)

Er.. why can't it be two syllables if it sounds like two letters?
What Vik said could be right, because it sounds like AA/II (depending on how it's pronounced!) or, for example it could be (just making them up..these aren't animals as far as I'm aware) KU, PT, which could be written as Kay-ewe, Pee-tee.
See? Two syllables.
