View Full Version : Why can't I enter iSketch?

Okay, well, I put up a url for my pic (photobucket) and now whenever
I click the "log in" button, my entire computer freezes and says "report error" etc. I think it's because of the url, so I deleted the url from photobucket, but it still won't let me log on because apparently there's a system error with the url (which I can't remove, as of now). So I need some help on how I can get back on without having the internet shut down on me.
=[ This is a stinker
u can edit ya post instead of double posting... and erm... i don't really understand what u r trying to say...
ohh i think i know what u r driving at. but... i doubt a link can lead to an error related to logging in... abt the photo sometimes if a photo exceed a certain limited size, ur image just won't load. (edit: and oh, isketch do freeze sometimes)
hmm.. try logging in a while later and see if this continues to bother u. =]

No, It's not cause of the size, atleast, I don't think so. But I mean, I can't
even get past the LOG IN part:!: And I'm a regular, so I tried everything I could but nothing is happening and I've had this problem for...about a day now. I'm not sure if it's iSketch that's having the problem or if it's just my computer. But all I know is that I can't log on anymore.

May I suggest another reason why you cannot log into iSketch?
Could you be blocked or banned?
I am of course not casting aspersions - merely giving another angle to your query. I suggest the best course of action for the interim however, is to write to Feedback.

Thank you guys for the help, hopefully I'll be able to get back on soon.
And nope, I've never been banned or even blocked from the site for a certain amount of time. But whatever, maybe it's just a glitch.

Hey Machiatto, I was just wondering, what browser do you use, and have you tried using another browser? (I don't think it will sort out the problem, but worth the try.)
And welcome to the forum, btw :)

If my previous advice doesn't work, buy a Mac!

When you say an 'Internet error' occurs. What kind of 'Error' ?
If if looks anything like this (even though this isn't an 'Error'):
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/4246/clipboard01lo2.jpg
You'll just need to check the 3 boxes and click 'Allow'
Hope this helps =)

Hiya Adam, welcome to the forum :)
I've moved your thread over here, as the situations seem to be pretty similar, and thought this thread might help you. I've never experienced this problem before, so I don't know much about it, but I know others on the forum have, so they might be able to help you around that.
Edit: Like Fy just did, heh.
Hope your problem gets sorted!

That exact thing happened to me a while ago, uploaded a pic then got error reports everytime i tried to log in. Took me aboot 3 stressful days to figure out that it was IE, as soon as i downloaded firefox i could get on and delete the picture id uploaded. So download firefox if you dont already use it, it allows you to vieeew more icons.
Also its just generally better. If you want to stop this happening again go on settings and disable viewing icons...vwoilaaaa.
if you already had firefox, sozzlebuckets cant help you.

I'm getting feelings of deja vu. This particular topic seems familiar, and I'm sure it's around here somewhere (exluding this thread :P), but I couldn't find it. Ah well.
If you are using IE, anyway.. then... eek! IE shouldn't be used for anything. Only for bashing, heh. ;) I'd definitely do as Katie has suggested, if the error isn't the same as in Fy's post. :) Firefox is the next best browser after Safari. I would say that :P I've found that a lot of people find that error reports or glitchy problems are easily solved just by simply using a different browser. I've got 4 browsers downloaded, and iSketch only works in one of them without errors or glitches. Purrr Safari..

Are you calling me a nerd?! You know, someone sent me an article about a guy who got called a "nerd" on the Internet by someone. He actually travelled from one State to another to seek revenge.... See where I'm going with this?.. Err.. my name! If I were that serious, I think I could quite easily become a world traveller with the amount of times I get called a nerd in a day :P
Oh. Spam. Safari is still the best, but only if you have a mac, heh. Anything is better than IE though. Bugs.. viruses.. crashes.. Firefox does rock :) I love the special features in there to help with coding, which I will not mention because this is seriously flying off topic, lol.

People aren't going to help you with IP addresses as it would help with getting out of bans and blocks.
Also, the info about your avatar and other things is not stored using your IP so if the avatar is to blame, this would not help anyway.
There are ways you could reset the game settings without being on iSketch but the only one we will be able to tell you on the forum is to re-install your operating system (edit: or to uninstall and re-install shockwave)

'Forgetting' your IP address isn't going to help with your 'Error.'
Can we have some more information on the actual error? Take a screen shot of it, or just type out what it says. Is it a typical Internet Explorer one or something else?
Have you tried any of the other things suggested? Using a different browser for example....?

Why would you want it to forget your IP? I don't think that has anything to do with the errors - or shouldn't. Unless you've been banned or blocked? (in which case, you cannot get around that).
If it's none of the above, I'd suggest taking the advice in the above posts, and if you've done that and it doesn't work, then email feedback asking them if there is a way you can get rid of the avatar. Your error message sounds like more of a computer/browser/shockwave problem, if it's linked to the icons. So like Fy said.. "forgetting" your IP won't solve it. Feedback may be able to help you. They might not be able to reply right away, but hopefully they'll be able to help your problem.

Do you get to a point where you can type at all? If so entering "/icon" in the text box and pressing enter will erase your avatar. (maybe try having the command copied and quickly press ctrl+v then enter)

the error i get is like the normal internet error, it says thst internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close down, then i have to close it down. i cant type anything because this message comes up right after i log in. this means i cant solve the problem myself, i thought making the game forget my ip would mean it forgot my screenname and settings which is all i can think of that would help.
seems like it's IE's faulty and not really isketch's faulty. i do encounter such problems when trying to use IE to play isketch last time. so i'm using firefox now.
i'd suggest u take katie's suggestions and download firefox. it's better than IE. And see if this helps. =]

I had this problem not too long ago, no error report or anything, just nothing at all, in the end I had to re-install shockwave and hey presto I was back (as a n00b admittedly) but back .
Ive always used Firefox and never had any probs with it, bar the above hehe

It will take two minutes to find out.
If it doesn't work, you can eliminate your web browser as the problem.
Microsoft make Internet Explorer.
Mozilla make Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).
Yes - Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)is a better version of Internet Explorer.

i downloaded firefox and now i cant even load isketch at all it now says error website not found.
You said, you'd downloaded Firefox, I guess you did actually install it, and then run it and then tried to browse to iSketch as well...?
IE unexpected errors, are probably caused by crap/malware being installed accidently or otherwise.
Have you got any AntiMalware software installed (and I don't mean just antivirus)?
1st I'd suggest that you make sure you have all your Microsoft (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) software up to date. (Using IE)
And then I'd suggest giving your system a good clean, try something like Housecall (http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/consumer/housecall/housecall_launch.php) from Trendmicro, or any other similar online scanner.
When doing the scan, make sure you don't have any other software running, and preferably use Firefox, rather than IE, to run the scan...but Housecall can be tempremental/slow to start, so if it hangs for 5mins, refresh and try again.
Once (if...) your system ever gets running normally again, I'd suggest switching to Firefox as your browser of choice, especially if you are not an IT person, you are far less likely to get crap on your computer.
:-)

Firefox is a browser, IE is a browser. Firefox is a better browser than IE and definitely not a version of IE.

Did they change housecall recently ?? The last time I ran it I was still forced to use IE

Hi, samiayem. Welcome to the forum.
That sounds to me as though it's a Adobe Shockwave player problem. Have you got the shockwave and flash players are on your computer? If so, it might be corrupted or needs updating *shrug*. You might need to uninstall it (if you have it already) and reinstall/download the latest version.
If you haven't got it installed, you can download Adobe Shockwave here (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?).
And download flash player here (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW). And that's me out of ideas, heh.
There's some really great advice in this thread, linked to problems with entering iSketch, so I thought I'd move your post here. You could try these things out and see what happens :) Have you played iSketch before on that computer and it's suddenly stopped working, or are you new to it?
Silly me, should have moved you here: http://www.isketchforum.net/adobe-shockwave-problem-t1817.html?t=1817 That thread might help you too.
Hope your problem gets sorted! :) Good luck.

well see, i tried to download a shockwave but i installed a flash player, is that the same thing? and when i try to install the adobe shockwave, i go to this page http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...6d24&sliceId=2 and i dont know where to download it. I've never played on this computer before because it has never worked.

Ah, you have flash, but need the Adobe Shockwave for iSketch. There's a link on your page that takes you to this page (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?) (which is the one in my previous post too). Have a quick look at the instructions, and then click the download link and take it from there. Let us know how you get on and if you have any problems :) We'll be happy to help if we can. I don't know too much about this, but some of the others do.

I had a similar problem when I tried to add a new icon. Apparently it had too many bells and whistles, and couldn't be handled by isketch, so I couldn't get on to delete it. I was worried that I would NEVER be able to get back on to delete it. I then remembered the fact that I had placed this icon at a particular url on photobucket, and by interrupting that url, the entire destructive process was stopped. I was pretty worried for awhile, though.

Welcome, Dinorawr, :)
Moved you over here. Sounds like a shockwave problem. The above posts might be able to help you out.
Have you got shockwave already on your computer?
That screen i think means no shockwave, the software isketch uses. Go here to get it: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/
