Hello

I recently joined isketch few days ago.. but the thing is some days i lag really bad to isketch end up timing out ??

I thought to myself surely isketch doesn't require that much even someone on dail up could handle this fine ?

I normally ping about 800ms ( I am from New Zealand ) and that's what others get to from there. But some reason i get up to 5000 ms and worse. Other days its fine i can join up and it be stable as.

i am not running anything in the background i can play other online games fine and other chat! ( right now i am pingng 69657 ms )

Any ideas ?

Have you tried making sure your adobe shockwave player is up to date? It can get a little annoying at times.

Have you gone to a command prompt and using tracert to see if there is a connection problem between New Zealand and the game? After all, it's a long way from New Zealand to where the server is based... I wouldn't be surprised if there's a problem on the internet anywhere between you and the game (not necessarily on your computer OR with Isketch).

Hello there rygrass - and firstly, welcome to the forum

Yours is definitely an interesting problem and I must ask, have you sent feedback (info@isketch.net) an email?

I hope this is resolved for you soon - I feel your pain!

The tracert tells us a lot... it tells us the path that the information packets take from your computer to the game, and how long each step takes. It doesn't seem like there is any step along the way that is unusually longer than any of the others, or is the "end of the road" of information. This can happen sometimes. But you are communicating information to iSketch normally, it seems.
In addition, you say you can visit other web sites alright. So it's not an ISP problem.

I've had "lag" issues connecting to iSketch as well. If your Adobe shockwave player is up to date, I believe it's something in the game itself, and not your computer.

Hey rygrass hopefully you're still around.
You wouldn't happen to be using Telecom as your ISP would you?
I have the exact same problems and they only started recently. I lag out frequently, sometimes having to relog, sometimes it just catches up after 2mins, writing like 300 messages and finishing 4 games in under a second lol.

The problems for me are not only with iSketch either; there are many games which just happened to miraculously start lagging horribly, sometimes taking 20+ minutes to connect to a server (if at all), and it all started around the same time a few weeks back. Of course Telecom denies any info or liability
I have it on good authority (from a Telecom staff-member) that Telecom Broadband are purposely ignoring all requests about lag-related issues, as well as having introduced thousands of restrictions on websites even remotely related to the P2P community. I guess that includes all forms of filesharing and gaming too.

If anyone finds a workaround for our problem, please advise :)

For your perusal here is my very similar tracert:
