How can I set my account up so I need a password to log in? I don't necessarily want to register my account just have it be password activated. Presently anybody can log onto anybody elses account simply by entering their username. This presents a huge security risk and invites trouble. I'm not sure why a site that offers voting privileges and personalized stats would be set up this way. It makes tampering too easy. Thanks.

It doesn't work like that...your username is irrelevant, your stats are related only to the computer you are using. If you log onto ISketch with a different computer, on a different network, your stats will be back to zero, and you'll have a noob dot again.
I agree that NOT having proper accounts and registered usernames is rubbish, I can't think of many online gaming sites that DON'T offer this facility. It really make things difficult for players who have played for a very long time, and have people stealing their established usernames and pretending to be them >I HINT HINT.

Hiya Maui :)

To be able to activate the password protection for your username you need to register your username with iSketch, but these registrations aren't publicly available.

As elfy said, your username doesn't hold your statistics; hence the only risk in not having a registered username is that impersonations can occur. In most cases it's quite rare, but there are many ways of finding out if someone is impersonating a friend, like checking their IP, their typing or language style and even their drawing style.

Edit: I do, however, agree to some degree about username registration. Most websites have this facility and there are many regular players of iSketch who do suffer from impersonation :)

I think there will always be those who will try to impersonate another player, whether registrations are in place or not. While there IS a difference in the names, something like Inspector versus lnspector is not immediately recognisable in some fonts and if the first name is registered, the second won't be blocked because it's a different letter.

I'm actually not tht keen on registrations. Nobody owns a username on iSketch and I quite like the come and go way in which the site operates.

Though I guess there's no real downside to them other than the potential loss of simplicity.

As mentioned, player registration is not open to the public YET. I imagine it is prolly an up and coming feature..so be patient.....very patient. Yer stats are not related yes but it is nice to know you are the only so and so....and it really is not about ownership me thinks....I think the way to look at it is to protect your name from the impersonators. Yeah, they will try variations of any name if they can but at least they will not be using a good player's name falsely (if and when registration happens) and getting them a bad rep.

I like having my user name registered...there can never be ANOTHER clueyee...then again I am a well known admin too. PPL have tried to impersonate me...but everyone soon figured THAT out on their own
