View Full Version : Writers and their violating buddies ...

God, it just goes ON and ON ...
People write on their turn - you warn - you get voted to be kicked ... They insist "I didn't write the word you jackass" .. well I don't care! You ******* write letters, you get a warning!
9 other people in there and they're all on the same side .... Big Picture UK's so much fun these days.
I just needed to rant a little. Goddammit.
I know that feeling but the iSketch rules do say no to letters.
Letters: Never use letters - whether or not they are related to the puzzle. Examples: Drawing a character saying "Shhh", "ZZZ"; writing "STORE" on a building for the word "shop", writing "R.I.P." on the tombstone.
And sure there are the over eager newbies who will vote you for ANYTHING that is a violation of any rule no matter how serious.

Yeah but getting voted to be kicked for enforcing said rules is even more infuriating.
On top of that, whenever they were getting the answers they were putting hints up, more or less giving the words away. What's the point? And they're long time players, you can see by their actions and the way they draw and type and use commands ... so there's no excuse.
Sheeesh.
You know what's worse? When you have two or three people in the room who are iWriters and you warn one. That warned one will vote to kick you out and/or warn you for no reason. But sometimes I think "Meh, they voted to kick me out, what a clown" and I shrug it off and don't bother voting to kick them out. However, sometimes the people in the wrong choose to "gang up" and vote you out anyway. Now that's a PITA. I honestly don't like voting to kick people out cos they voted to kick me out, sometimes it looks a bit petty :/

Something similar happened to me. One of my friends was leaving, so i drew an arrow and wrote "bye" and i got 2 votes instantly (by noobs). Also, the person after me wrote out their word and didn't get a single vote apart from mine :(
Oh well, can't help the newbies with their newly acquired voting privileges :)

God I had the best fun today. -_- Was in a room, someone started writing out their word so I warn them.. And what happens, I get abuse from 3 of the players saying I'm ruining the game, and whining etc. xD -_- It's called iSketch not iWrite.. -_- Ahh well, in the end they became quiet after I won 3 games in a row :D Heh. Silly little writing noobs. -_- They were like, why you getting so upset, it's only a game.. -_- Grrr.. Made me annoyed. -_-

I like that phrase.
How often is this happening to you guys? Is it more often these days?
Though it happens sometimes in expert rooms too, you're less likely to see this in those. Just a suggestion.

I think one of the best ways to deal with it is just to boycott the guessing. If you can convince others in the room not to guess when someone writes a word, it instantly becomes less fun for the writer.
Usually I only get the writer complaining, haven't yet been ganged up on. :P

Mm I've never been ganged up on until then.. But I think that's probably because half of the room was writing at some point or another.. :P Eh. I think it just ruins the point of the game when people write. -_- They should know the rules, yet they act so shocked when people warn them :P

I agree dan I don't guess if someone writes, simple as that. Ok yeah, no one joins me and I lose points too, hey ho, I am so avid not to give them points :D
I do say, don't give them points by guessing.
If people then become agressive by shouting and swearing then I vote to kick.

That's normally what I try to do on the quite rare occasion that I play in an Easy room. If you get a group of three friends writing they'll most likely vote you off.
I like that phrase.
I did too, when I first heard it.
If it weren't for the fact that I read it everywhere and all the time, I'd still like it...
I get ganged up on a fair bit and voted out of rooms from time to time, it hardly matters though... any room where that could happen as a consequence of voting with a valid reason is hardly the sort of room which one would want to be in anyway, so it isn't such a bad thing to be made to leave. Like Buffy, I also tend to avoid guessing if letters have been used, and I never guess if the actual answer has been written.
I've never been in a situation where "boycotting" the guessing seemed viable; a room where writing would happen is likely to be full of the sort of people who glow with pride when they guess the answer even when it has been written out for them...

I do exactly the same. If the written word is longer than 4 letters, I would normally type the first 4 letters, just to check if the artist is writing the actual word. If they matched, then I would vote. I don't normally rush and vote at the first letter I see unless it's plainly obvious the letter(s) directly help to define the word. Although letters shouldn't be used at all, they could merely be saying hello or goodbye to someone, which I would allow. If people want to write the answer out, they should use UC rooms.
beating them in several games in a row usually make these types of players leave. and expert/basic rooms are good fun! hard to get them started up though.

I've reuploaded the fun little iWrite game I created last year, which is ideal to give those who persist in writing letters and/or being abusive and breaking rules.
short URL:
http://snipurl.com/6yzk5
or the long version URL:
http://www.graphicglitch.f2s.com/isketch/iwrite/
Both go to the same page so give 'em either
If it's getting used and if I have the time/patience I may rewrite it to be more accurate or interactive, like the iSketch server status checker.
Hey, if nothing else they might leave the room for a minute to go look at it

Haha I remember you showing me that a while back Fender - it's brilliant! As for the iWriters, unfortunately there's not much you can do if they outnumber you 3-to-1 and there's no Admin around unless you can make them press F5 or something. As for myself, I only play in Easy rooms if my friends are there too, in which case the outnumbering doesn't occur and writers are soon sent packing. I would still guess the word if the "artist" wrote it though (after warning) because I'd rather get 10 points myself than preventing the noob from getting 1. As Dean said, they usually leave after they get beaten several times!
I play in empty-ish easy rooms on occasion if none of my buddies are about because I love to draw, and you get a turn more frequently in the quiet rooms.
However they are often populated by I-Writers, and boy do they throw their toys out of the pram if you warn them :(
Because I don't have mates in there I tend to get picked on somewhat when I speak out :(
That link will come in handy tho, thankies :)
