What are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for people that cheer me up when I'm down.
I'm also thankful for the friendliness of the vast majority of people on this forum :)

Personal: I'm thankful for my family who love me unconditionally.

Generally: I'm thankful for this beautiful planet we live on. Whether God created it or whether it was the Big Bang, or whether it was some merger of the two, I don't care - this world is stunning.

Personally I'm thankful that I was born and live where and when I was/do. Places where I can turn on the tap and get clean, running water. Places where I know where my next meal is coming from, where I know that if I hurt myself or get sick that I have access to some of the most advanced medicine in the world. Places that allow me to attend school for free and allow me to attain a higher education. Places where I can work, travel, marry freely, practice whatever sexuality and religion I want without fear of persecution. Places that I can speak out without fear of retaliation. Where I know that if I, by unlucky chance, become the victim of serious crime, that I can rely on a justice system which will help me. Places where I can be me and live my life as fully as I want to.

Generally I'm thankful that there are more good people in this world than bad.

hm...personally? im just thankful for all the amazing peoples in my life <3 my parents, my brother, my friends irl, and def my friends on here ^_^ specially those peoples i call my bffs <3 :) bb's and big sisters on here ^_^ <3 i love them alllll <3

generally? im thankful that we have so many opportunities in life....we can love and be loved, we can experience life, and i guess im still thankful for the sucky things in life..they give us something to learn ..teaching us and helping us grow :) im thankful for the fact that i know there are amazing people around the world...and the fact that we dont have to go through life alone :)

Oh wow I am thankful for so many things so this may be long! lol

I am so incredibly thankful for my husband. He is such a great friend and companion to me! I love him with all my heart.

I am thankful for my oldest son and how sweet he is, and what a great big brother he is!

I am thankful for my middle son, how he loves to cuddle with me and tell me he loves me all the time!

I am thankful for my youngest son, how silly he is and how smart he is!

I am thankful for my mother and father and for their love for me, and for all that they have done and continue to do for their family!

I am thankful for all my brothers and sisters who all live relatively near by and who are all willing to help eachother out whenever one of us needs help!

I am thankful for my religion and for the knowledge of God and the strength that it gives me!

I am thankful for this planet and all the beauties and wonders and miracles it has in it!

I am thankful to live in this day and age where we have the computer and internet and can make great friends who live thousands of miles away!

I am thankful for my friends who I don't get to see often enough but who will remain my friends forever!

I am thankful for being a home owner and for even having a roof over my head!

I am thankful for having the finances to live comfortably right now and not feel like we are struggling!

Ok I could go on and on and on but I will stop now! I mentioned the most important things I believe so...lol

One of the things I am most thankful for is the amazing support group of friends and family that I have. Going through hard times definitely helps you figure out who your real friends are, and while I have lost a few, the majority who have stuck around are fantastic.

Most of all though, I'm thankful for my son. He's the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I never stop being amazed by him. My son is my reason for carrying on despite.. hmm.. stuff. He's an awesome kid. I'm a lucky guy.

Today I am thankful that I had been trained in CPR. Although I had taken many Red Cross courses, all which required CPR, I never thought that I would use it. I am thankful that I was near when my neighbor/ friend needed my help. I am thankful for the 911 dispatcher and EMT's who responded so quickly. I am thankful that my friend is recovering.

I'm thankful to God for my immediate family and all my friends (both online and rl)- I don't know what I'd do without you all <3 . Despite all that's happened, I'm so grateful that I have so many people I can count on/who seem to care about me- so I guess I'm lucky x

I'm thankful for the internet. I don't know/can't begin to imagine how different my life would be without it

Today I am thankful for all of the pms that I have received from members of this forum. Although I am slow to answer, as each time I write about my friendship with ZK I reach for the box of tissues; I just wanted y'all to know that I truly appreciate each and everyone of you and the kind words you have written to me. I was just reading the thread about the meaning of life and as ZK and I had many discussions about it, maybe one day soon I will be able contribute my thoughts. I am thankful that I had the time to share with him. I am thankful that I have this forum to come to, to seek solace. I am thankful that I have so many friends who care, and so many people who care even though they don't know me very well. I am thankful that most people that I have met in my life consider me a friend of theirs, that they know that I would drop everything to be by their side if they ask or need help. I am thankful that I can bring joy to people who are sad and unhappy. But most of all I am thankful that God gave me the ability to forgive. There has not been a person who has trod on me or my spirit that I have not been able to forgive. I am thankful that I know what love is, that I have loved and that I have been loved.

I'm thankful to believe in God, follow a religion and have some decent structure to my life so that I can have an aim in life and this motivates me to work towards good things. Which in turn will hopefully keep me away from things which will be harmful to me and others around me.

I'm thankful for a series of documentaries I recently watched which have changed the way I feel about people around the round. Particularly those in poorer countries or indeed, those in countries with a stable income but are not fortunate enough to live and work in the areas swimming with job oportunities.

I'm thankful for every single person old, young, poor, male, female around the world who struggles so much that they have to leave their parents, babies and families in order to find work in a better place. These people often hate what they have to do in order to make a living and whilst everyday is horrible and filled with memories I would never like to have, they continue to work hard at what they do even though it's worth next to nothing to us, because for them, it's a matter of life and death, eating and starving, being clothed and supporting a family they rarely get to see.

These people have no choice in the lives they have, the work they do, the food they eat, the lack of friends they have, the danger they put themselves in, the lack of education, the lack of a stable roof over their head, the lack of clothes, electricity, clean water. They don't have what we have and we have everything yet we/I still complain about it because things arent always perfect. But who cares, we have it and it works good enough for us to survive and smile about it so we should be thankful for it.
These people don't complain about how awful their lives are, they just get on with it because they have to do it. I'm thankful for that because it's taught me a few things.

I'm thankful I was born and raised in a well developed country; it wasn't through choice.

I'm thankful for the recession. Not in a bad way, I feel sorry for those who have lost their jobs but at least they still have a roof over their head. If not, at least people can rent cheap flats and move. At least we have homeless shelters in this country and at least we have benefits. The recession won't ever make our lives as bad as what it is for millions across the world right now. We could be in a much worse situation so I'm thankful we're not. It has taught us all in some way to be responsible with money and to appreciate what we have a little bit more than usual.

I'm thankful for my good company and circle of friends. I have support here, other places on the internet and in real life. I'm grateful that I am happy with what I have in that respect because it's not like I'm friends with the whole world. I have a few friends in each place but each and every one is valuable in their own way. I came to this conclusion because on Facebook and other social networks everyone has 200 odd friends but I noticed they never communicate. Whilst I may not use the network(s) much, I have fewer than 50 friends but I stay in contact with them and they are what I would call close. Course that's just the 'irl' ones.

I'm thankful for various forum members all over this forum and others. Some have brought friendship to the table whilst others have brought knowledge and wisdom. Then there are those who have been selfless and nothing but remarkable. Others have the courage to express honesty without looking down their noses at others and still don't rank themselves as being any higher than people they aren't fond of. Others have meaningful posts and some make me laugh and smile.

Thankful I could express all that, finally.
