Trouble logging in to the forum

When logging in to the forum, it tells me i've logged in and its redirecting me, but it doesnt log me in...

i dont need to log in on my computer but on the ones that arent mine and i want to access the forum it is really quite annoying because sometimes i actually do like to post and without logging in that isnt possible

So wait a second. You want to post without logging in? Sorry buddy, good luck with that.

Now about your problem, you log in, it thanks you and it redirects you. Does it ever finish redirecting you? If so, where does it redirect you to? Does it show you the forum main page again like you haven´t signed in? You have a to be a little more specific please.

Uh oh. That can´t be good. Are you signing in on a university network computer when that happens?

I get the same problem sometimes, and after several attempts it eventually sorts itself out.

I've been trying to work out what causes it and haven't come up with anything yet.

edit: Just had it then... also, my browser was not bringing up the history list of visited websites...

Closed IE, opened up again - logged on fine.

Hmmm this happened to me today.

I suddenly lost my cookies for this and another forum I use. I tried both firefox and IE. I enter my password and as I click log in it disappears and returns me to the main page. This last time I clicked on this thread for further info and when the page opened I was logged in. Highly confusing

If you should be logged in but appear not to be, try hitting F5 to refresh the page. Might be looking at a cached version of the page from when you were not logged in.

I did find my own way round it hehe. I clicked on a recent message to find I was logged in so I deleted my bookmark then went to the forum front page and saved it back into a new bookmark. All currently seems to be working.

I've been playing around with this, and the only way I've found to replicate the problem is if I try to log in at the http://isketchforum.net address then it will keep returning to the login page, but when I navigate to an http://www.isketchforum.net page it shows me as logged in.

This is just a suggestion, since I don't know the exact forum / directory / domain layout:

Peter could try setting the cookie domain value on the admin control panel to .isketchforum.net (with leading dot) and I believe the cookie path should be "/". Even if these are changed so that both URLs will remember us, we all have to clear our old cookies to make it work.
