Oui le français est une langue compliquée
à cause de l'écriture de certains mots. Beaucoup ont des lettres muettes. Par exemple : "vert" se proncerai en anglais "vair" et non "vairt" un autre exemple : "clerc" se prononce "clair"... "coup" se prononce "koo"... Il y a aussi beaucoup d'homonyme : serre, sert, cerf, serf,... (tous se prononcent "sair") sot, seau, sceau, saut,... (se prononce "so") quelle est la phrase juste : 1- Tu me sert un vert. 2- Tu me serre un verre. 3- Tu me sert un ver. 4- Tu me sers un verre. 5- Tu me cerf un vers.

That's a bit over the top. Dutch has a similar pronoun ('u', versus 'jij', meaning 'you') and it is usually used for people you don't know too well who are from an older generation. Some people are more polite and also use it on their grandparents, and other people either like being purposely disrespectful or object to creating distance between two people based on age (like me... haha. If everybody's equal, same pronoun for you all!)

using "vous" is not about age. This is just a polite form used for unknown people and in companies. Actually it is a bit distant... but first it is a (meaning "marque") of respect.
For example, if you want to talk to a girl in the street, it's better to use "vous"... "Vous avez de beaux yeux mademoiselle..." "Tu descends de la voiture old fat bia***"

Ouiii, j'ai quelques collègues ici en France qui veulent que j'utilise 'tu' et ils sont certainmente plus âgé que moi. En même temps j'ai des collègues qui me laissent utiliser 'vous'. C'est bizarre pour moi, car les collègues qui veulent que je dit 'tu' sont les gens pour qui je veut utiliser 'vous' par respect parce que je les aime bien (car ils sont vraiment gentils). . .
Je souhaite que vous avez compris ce que je voulais dire!
