Want a new thankyou system?

Hey folks, just polling what I mentioned in the downtime thread in the N&A forum.

I have attached some screenies of the proposed system. Personally I think it is better because it's easier to give thank yous, they're visible and placed under the thanked post so that people know the post has been thanked, thanked posts can be searched which I think would be useful for searching threads that give support etc.

I am aware that some people prefer the anonymity or the current system though so it's also possible to have a users rep increase when they get thanked.

Lemme know what you think...

I like that a little better than the green squares. They're barely noticeable. I'm voting for the new one.

I think it's much better! This was the system that I first had in mind when discussing the button the first time around. I've seen it work really well on other forums.

I see positives and negatives in both. So I really don't mind which system, to be honest :) But, tasha, you do raise some good, valid points.

* MsNerdinator giggles at the one person who voted 'we have a current one?!" and points to the thumbs up to the top right of each post :P

With the last discussion (when this was first proposed) I was very much against the option where you can see who voted, because this place has a history of childish incidents that were blown out of proportion. And the reasons Tasha outlined again are exactly those things that could lead to that. Though I also have the feeling that this forum's changed a bit.

Well, I never use the thing, so for me, you might as well ditch the whole system altogether. As for the poll, I don't really care either way.

I don't mind either way.

I like the idea of being able to see that a post has some thumbs up, because sometimes there's lots of people who agree with something but don't want to post about it. Not sure I like the names or not though.

One thing: the current system let's you use names to a certain degree, I've had some comments where people have left their name at the end. I suppose that's very open to lying about who you are though.

I have to admit that thought never crossed my mind, but the problem is easily solved by verifying with someone that they did thank you for a post, should a name have been given.
