Question Are you allowed to draw this?

are you allowed to use Z's for eyes to represent a sleeping person, or can you use X's for eyes to represent someone that is dead?

Apart from the 'are we allowed to' question, I have never been able to understand why people NEED to draw Z's for sleep words. Surely if someone has their eyes closed, people will guess sleep related words, yeah? Has always been my experience, anyway.

I know some people draw X - X for eyes for dead people...I've never seen any problem with that, though some players get really picky and vote.

I guess a good rule of thumb is, why use letters at all to indicate either...ANY letters on the board are pretty much open to players voting, whether we're 'allowed' to draw them or not...simply because the rules say 'no letters'. Fair enough.

The rules state no letters, but feedback will say ZZZ's are allowed and seen as symbols. They feel tweaking the rules would confuse more people so they just stay. Admins will not take away votes or kick for vote abuse. Best to just not draw ZZZ's so you don't risk a vote.

Personally, I've never used z's to represent someone being asleep or snoozing, as I think that zzz is an onomatopoeia, like moo, woof or meow. I think the actual rule is that they are allowed, but other people can vote to skip you, which is strange because there will always be a contradiction as to who is right. I'd take TheBroker's advice on zzz.

With regards to using X's for a dead person, I've never received a vote for this when I'm drawing it, and I reckon that because X is simply a pattern of lines rather than a letter in this instance. The X doesn't stand for anything except for only the dead eyes, so it can never be conveyed as a letter. So I think, yes, these are allowed.

Hope this helps :)

Haha, sorry Jy, I think we all misread your question

I guess it shouldn't matter if you put z's as eyes on a person like this z_z, as it's similar to the x_x case and for the same reason as above.

This forum is unofficial though, so whether or not our speculations are true, depends on the official rules. You could also try e-mailing the official channel at Feedback (info@isketch.net), but as stated above, it's probably best to draw the sleeping face with its eyes closed; like this -_-.

Hope this helps :)
