Your favourite place
Everyone has a good memory of somewhere special whether it be a holiday abroad, a place that is close to you or just a great place to be in general. Also maybe there are a few places where you would really like to visit, to catch up with old friends or family members or maybe there's a place where you always wanted to go to as a child.
I think my favourite place that I've been to is El Teide, the dormant volcano in Tenerife. It's like another world up there because you are above the clouds. I also used to have family who lived there, whom I wasn't able to see very often. Where in the world is your favourite place to be and where would you like to visit in the future?

My favourite place I've been to is Panama beach, not the Panama by South America. =P I love that place because of the gorgeous sting rays in the water. Haha. I would like to go back there for another holiday, just to see those sting rays catching their daily meal, fishes. x) A place I would like to visit in the future would be of course Europe and Australia! I do have a few places in particular in mind though, but not for Australia yet, still unsure.. (:

Great thread!!!
I have two favourite places (if that is okay Norwegian Fjords: ![]() (Geiranger Fjord, Norway) I first went there on a cruise when my daughter was 11 weeks old and then revisited a few years later when I remarried and went on yet another cruise. It also happend to be my last holiday with my dad (without either of us knowing, we both booked the exact same cruise - lol - some honeymoon that turned out to be)!! Norway is absolutely beautiful and the people are so friendly and hospitable. My second place would be Provence, France. I have spent the last two summers there and have already booked to go back again for next year. The place is steeped in history, there is so much to do (gorges for white water rafting, canoeing etc), shopping, eating. The summer months are very hot - but bearable (thanks to a cooling mistral wind). ![]() (The Luberon, Provence). I would love to visit Australia for a variety of reasons - perhaps most importantly, to see my sister who lives in Victoria.

My favorite place, where I feel most happy was not found on a vacation, so I have no pictures to share. My favorite place, where I feel at one with the world is in a horse stable early in the morning. The sun had not yet risen and there is a chill in the air. I am usually dressed in breeches or jodhpurs with jodhpur boots or muckers on my feet. I am wearing a long sleeve t-shirt and a down vest to cut the chill. The horses are starting to wake up as they hear me filling the feed cart that will bring them their breakfast. You hear them snorting the night dust from their nostrils. You can see their breath slipping past the bars on the stall doors and rising toward the ceiling. Every now and then one of the younger ones whinnies. It is such a lovely sound in the quiet of the dawn. Some of them are stamping their feet impatiently. You can hear the older mares pawing at the straw, its rustling sound magnified by the stillness that surrounds us. The smell of oats and corn covered with sweet molasses fills the air as I continue to fill the feed cart. The horses stick their noses between the bars as if they are trying to get a better smell of the meal that is about to be served them. As I fill each bucket, the horses great me with a nuzzle. They look at me with their huge brown eyes, a look of wisdom and admiration. After each horse has been fed, I stand in the middle of the aisle and listen to the sound of them chewing, a rhythmic cadence, in which is horse's sound is unique, but combined with the others produces an mesmerizing harmony. The birds are waking up and their cheerful greetings add to the symphony being played. A peaceful moment of joy and satisfaction washes over me. But, I cannot dilly dally in the moment as soon the students will arrive for their lessons and there is much to do.

OK. I've never had much to do with horses, but from the way you write about them, Penny - I am THERE!
* Vik sighs - how beautiful My favourite place was the balcony of our room in the resort we stayed in on honeymoon. I guess this is like, the trump of the aces with me, because my favourite place is generally anywhere, early in the morning, with no-one else around, a cup of coffee in my hand, and a window to look through. What made the honeymoon special was that the balcony looked out over the ocean and swaying palms. I'd make my coffee in semi-darkness, with hubby still sleeping, open the curtains (keeping an eye out for giant spiders, lol - man, I did not relax about that while I was there) and sit out on the balcony in my PJs. I'd watch the resort staff getting ready for their day, having a joke with each other as they walked along, and I'd watch the ocean, and the little birds and it was so quiet. * Vik closes her eyes and goes back

Oooh Penny, that sounds lovely. :) Aaaaw Vik, that's a nice one.
Everyone has these exotic places.... mine's actually not far from home, in the forest. There's a rock by a stream, I like to sit there and just listen to the sounds of the woods. I can hear the birds and the animals there and everything is that lovely dark green colour. Sitting there is so peaceful and grounds me when life gets a bit much... as it tends to. I also love just looking out to sea, reminds me how small we all are compared with the world around us. Taking time to appreciate what nature gave us is really inspiring to me. |

My favourite place isn't all that spectacular. It's the area in which I grew up. I haven't been back there since we moved house when I was around 12, but it's the place I have the fondest memories of. We lived in a little development of houses, that were built around one much larger house - originally several families shared this big house before deciding to build separate houses on the large plot. We moved into one of these houses. It was in the middle of farmland, with lots of sheep and cows around. Hmm I don't even know why it's my favourite place really, as I've been to much more exciting and also memorable places. I'd love to go back there someday though, although I'd hate to find it changed and lose the memory of it that I have in my mind.
